Fleet Manager

GP Transco is a modern trucking company that hires experienced drivers, talented office staff, and uses state-of-the-art equipment & software to deliver goods in the U.S. and Canada. We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join the operations team as a Fleet Manager.

The key responsibility as Fleet Manager is to execute the daily processes and activities involved in all aspects of a truckload shipment. This multi-faceted position has you accountable for managing a group of drivers and executing dispatch functions, along with ensuring quality customer service commitments are being met according to company standards and policies. Fleet Manager serves the primary contact concerning the vehicle fleet and operations. The position is responsible for planning, directing, managing, coordinating, and supervising the programs for acquisition, assignment utilization, maintenance, and repair of fleet vehicles.

Essential Duties & Requirements:

  • Offer guidance to contracted drivers on the best ways to maximize their earnings, while delivering a high level of customer service

  • Develop delivery routes and maintain contact with drivers throughout the day

  • Collaborate with management to modify daily routes to accommodate the needs of customers

  • Cultivate strong relationships with drivers and customers

  • Communicate with freight brokers providing exceptional customer service in order to reach the targets set and resolve problems, requests, etc.

  • Oversee and schedule vehicle inspections, maintenance, and servicing to minimize downtime

  • Balance workloads to keep existing drivers satisfied

  • Ensure that drivers follow their designated working hours and routes

  • Effectively communicate with drivers, brokers, managers, and colleagues

  • Analyze driver performance and vehicle utilization, maximize the work efficiency of your team of drivers

  • Track drivers and vehicle locations and routes live to know the drivers’ whereabouts ensuring they are on the right track

  • Ensure high quality work based on company standards, procedures, processes, and values, including best representation of employer and the company

  • Other daily tasks, such as schedules, reports, etc.

  • Logging each call, providing answers to questions by retrieving information from the necessary departments and supervising the fleets’ routes to prioritize and organize their schedules

  • Scheduling and dispatching drivers to appropriate locations according to predetermined schedules, customer requests or immediate needs

  • Preferably 2 years of industry related experience managing truck drivers

  • Prior experience with Samsara is a plus

  • Experience with DAT, Internet Truckstop, and other load boards

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, empathy

  • Ability to work well under pressure and multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment

  • Customer service oriented, professional attitude and team mindset

  • Ability to learn from lessons and criticism

  • Ability to motivate drivers

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, also in English language
