Director of Safety

GP Transco, a midsize trucking company, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Safety to join our team.

The Director of Safety will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's safety program, including developing and implementing safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and promoting a culture of safety throughout the organization.

Essential Duties & Requirements:

  • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and industry best practices

  • Monitor safety performance metrics and provide analysis to senior management

  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and contractors

  • Conduct safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions

  • Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root cause and develop preventive measures

  • Coordinate with maintenance department to ensure vehicles are properly maintained and repaired

  • Collaborate with HR to ensure that safety is integrated into all aspects of the company culture and employee engagement initiatives

  • Ensure that safety records and documentation are maintained in accordance with company policies and legal requirements

  • Stay current with safety regulations, laws, and industry trends to inform policy and procedure updates

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health, transportation safety, or related field

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety leadership role within the trucking or transportation industry

  • In-depth knowledge of state and federal safety regulations and compliance requirements

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Proven ability to develop and implement safety policies and procedures

  • Experience conducting safety audits and investigations

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
